Kurt Iverson

One guy. One laptop. A host of knowledge

Who am I? I'm Kurt. As with many awkward one-on-ones where you try to describe what it is exactly that you do, I will use the phrase I'm most comfortable with: (I've given up on the fact that I'll ever be able to explain what it is that I do so that my mother can understand, but that's another blog.)

I do:
Flash design and ActionScripting
Social networking and syndication
Email marketing
Web design and CGI customization
Management of print vendors, programmers and designers
Creative writing
Screenplay writing
Video production (shooting, editing)
Audio production (sound design, digital editing, recording)
Music production (composition, recording, digital editing, multi-tracking, MIDI)
Graphic design (print, digital)
Print management
Interactive design
Project management
Product development
Direct marketing
Tradeshow event management
Tradeshow booth design
Corporate identity design
Audio/Video compression
Audio/Video conversion
MySpace customization
Social networking platform customization (Ning, BooneX)

What do I use to do the things I do?
Flash CS3, Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, Dreamweaver, Peak, Deck, Office (bleh), MindMap Pro, Swift 3D, Garage Band, InDesign, Final Cut Pro, iMovieHD (quick and dirty), iDVD (quick and dirtier), and I've even been know to delve into the terminal.

Need the 1000 foot level view?

Am I a programmer? No. I leave that to the people who have put in the years to know their craft. But I can talk to them. I've done a little. I understand the languages available for web application development. I can work with programmers and translate project terminology and requirements from techies to commoners to co-workers.

Am I a designer? Absolutely. I love to create. I love to use different mediums and I love to smash them together.

But the best thing is, I cross the lines. I go from technical, to client-facing, to creative. And I'm comfortable in front of a wide variety of people, skill levels and understanding. I cover a lot of ground because I'm passionate about continuous learning and doing well with what I've learned.

As an athlete, I take it upon myself to know as much as I can about start to finish. Not only being able to accomplish all that is necessary from beginning to end, but to understand the process enough to manage and teach others to do so, too.
